Prayer Dismissal
The last session is a time for wrapping things up. After the session is over, gather everyone around and start with a “Prayer of thanks” for all in attendance. Explain that the next time everyone will meet will be at the Board of Review and that the AAD Certificates and Medals will be passed out at a special recognition Mass.
We like to use Scout Sunday, the first Sunday in Scout Week (The Sunday before February 8th) as our recognition Mass. All of the Religious Awards earned by the Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, and Venturing Crew are awarded at this time.
End the meeting with a “Scoutmaster's Minute” or “Scouting Charge”, then a closing Prayer.
Receiving feedback on the effectiveness of the program as presented is very important. This provides information on what areas need to be expanded, included or reduced in the next training program.
Make sure each Scout fills out an evaluation form during the last meeting. Explain to them that their input and evaluation of the course is very important and will be used to make the course better in the future.
After the evaluation forms are collected and the Scouts have left, gather your staff and read all of them while you are there, passing them all around so each Counselor has an opportunity to read them. Based on the information you receive from these evaluations, consider making any adjustments to the program you deem necessary.
